Description
First designed around the time of the Civil War, this comfortable and tonally articulate 00 size is complemented by a wide neck and short 24 7/8" string scale for easy playability. With a square slotted headstock (with volute), and small pyramid bridge, the comfortable size and timeless appearance of the Collings 00 is matched by the ease of playing a wide neck and shorter string scale affords. Common to all Collings we have seen in the shop the tone is typically balanced and precise – great for many different styles of play.
This 2005 model is in superb condition with only 1 tiny mark on the top to show for its 20 years (see last picture). The construction is a Sitka spruce top with East Indian rosewood back and sides. This is complimented with lovely 42-style Abalone binding inlays, rosette, headstock inlay and the snowflake fretboard inlays. The Mahogany neck has a bound Ebony board, 47mm nut width and joins the body at the 12th fret. The wood selection for the back and sides is terrific with the 2-piece back with lovely zipper mosaic centre binding strip – all finished in a High gloss nitrocellulose lacquer. Hand made in Austin, Texas this really is a fantastic guitar – rare to find in the UK, especially in this condition – comes complete with its original Collings hard case.
