The Ford Transit needs little introduction, launched in 1965 and in its 9th generation, the ‘tranny van’ has been Europes best -selling light commercial vehicle for 4 decades with over 8 million vans produced worldwide. So you’d think that finding a rare example of a vehicle produced in such enormous numbers would be difficult, but now and again an outstanding and rare example comes to market…
This super rare Ford spec truck has covered just 63,000 miles with 2 former keepers. Kept by the first owner, Abbeygate main Ford dealership, for 90% of its life it was in full Abbeygate livery and garaged throughout their ownership. The second private owner gave it an equally cosseted and garaged life, with minimum use and maximum care.
HPI confirms it as one of the ‘better built’ Belgium produced Transits which was then subject to a J&J body conversion to a spectacle lift recovery truck and retained by Abbyegate Ford from new for a number of years.
It’s in outstanding and fully operational condition, presenting superbly inside, outside and underneath; even retaining the original gearbox cover from new.
As you’d expect with such a low mileage and low owner vehicle it’s retained plenty of history even down to a collection of tax discs.
The vendor reports that it’s it’s in great operational condition with everything working as it should; so this gives you options - tuck it away in your classic collection or use it as part of your classics collection, it would make a fantastic classic recovery vehicle, working truck for a classics or Ford garage or promotional vehicle that will get you plenty of attention.
We think this is a unique opportunity to buy what must be the best example in the UK, there can’t be another one in this condition, with this this mileage and ownership history.
Thanks to the vendor for providing/checking this information.
