Description
This lot will be auctioned via Hampson Auctioneers, Located at Bolesworth Castle on Sunday 28th September 2025. Capris are very much in vogue these days and anybody seeking a 2.0 litre one will definitely want to know about B966 RVM. It has apparently been the subject of a nut and bolt restoration, during which it was resprayed in its original colour of metallic bronze even the underside is now colour coded. Along the way its original Pinto powerplant has been replaced by a 2 litre Zetec Black Top unit thats equipped with a Weber ECU and quartet of throttle bodies. The enticing picture is completed by a new set of Minilite style wheels shod in equally fresh Uniroyal tyres. The vendor unsurprisingly now views the bodywork, Shark Grey leather cloth interior trim, engine and five speed manual transmission as all being in excellent order, and the paintwork as good. He is now offering this very smart package complete with strut brace, sunroof and mud flaps, plus a history file with receipts totalling in excess of £30,000 for work done. A unique proposition.Fords Capri was launched at the 1969 Brussels Motorshow. The fastback Coupe was intended to do for Europe what the Mustang had done for the USA ie it was our pony car, and would have been called Colt had Mitsubishi not bagged the name first. The monocoque body featured independent front suspension by MacPherson struts and a live axle with leaf springs at the rear. Braking was by discs drums and the steering by rack and pinion. The newcomer was offered with a generous choice of engines. Gearboxes, like the powerplants, tended to be common to the Cortina and the model was offered in numerous levels of trim/specification GT, E, L, X, XL, GXL, XLR etc.In summary:The subject of a nut and bolt restorationNowadays powered by a 2.0 litre Ford Zetec Black Top unit rather that its original Pinto oneHistory file containing £30,000 worth of receipts
