Hardy 9’ 6” Fibalite Spinning rod - Collectors or Traditionalist

Description

This is a really nice specimen vintage rod from the iconic House of Hardy that has the original metal cone and rubber butt stop rather than the cheap looking plastic cap. I bought this rod myself in around ’76 and have used it for pike fishing knowing in full confidence that it has the power to set the hook even at distance. In its day this was the pinnacle of rod building by the masters at Hardy, bags alone sell for £30. All metals used are rust proof and it stands to the rod building testament that everything is still in top condition. There are the obvious few marks on the varnish finish as the rod has been used. I put a band of strong varnish on the top and bottom of both cork sections when In first brought it that has helped preserve it in mint condition. I also coated the rod in a non reflective sealant to cut out the glare on close quarters fishing. All the beautiful golden green with red band silk is all still in tact, this rod was my pride and joy and has been looked after. I think it would make a lovely boat rod for loch or reservoir fishing but equally it’s been great for the margin lake and river piking that I used it for. No deliveries or holding.
