About the Role A leading engineering consultancy are looking for a Senior or Principal Energy and Carbon Consultant to join their growing sustainability team. You ll help develop energy strategies for new developments and estate renewals, while supporting the delivery of holistic sustainability frameworks that balance social, environmental and economic goals. This role would suit someone with experience in energy consulting or mechanical/electrical engineering, ideally Chartered or working towards it. You ll have a strong technical background and a real passion for sustainable design from low-carbon heating and renewables to energy resilience and smart city infrastructure. Qualifications & Experience Degree (MEng/MSc preferred) in mechanical, electrical or similar engineering discipline Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards chartership (CIBSE, EI, IMechE, IET, etc.) Expertise in MEP design, energy systems, and low/zero carbon technologies Proficiency in energy modelling tools such as IES, PHPP or SAP Experience preparing Sustainability or Energy Statements for planning Strong understanding of heat networks, PV, heat pumps, and thermal storage Interest in wider sustainability themes such as embodied carbon, circular economy and biodiversity Personal Attributes Strong communicator with clear, client-facing confidence Analytical, organised and proactive Enjoys working in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment Curious, creative and motivated by meaningful work Alongside a generous salary and extensive benefits, this opportunity offers a supportive environment for professional growth, including structured mentoring, collaboration across disciplines, and genuine opportunities for career progression.
