We're looking for a skilled and motivated Network Maintenance Craftsperson - Mechanical to become a key part of our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and installation of pressure reduction installations and associated assets across our network.
You will also play a vital role in supporting the design, installation, and commissioning of new and replacement assets, working closely with our Capital Projects team to help deliver high-quality infrastructure improvements.
A full UK driving licence is a requirement for this role
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
Carry out decommissioning, installation, commissioning, validation, modification, and repair activities in line with relevant policies, procedures, and legal requirements. Ensure all work delivers optimal technical performance and equipment reliability, while maintaining the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental compliancePrepare reports and provide information, guidance and advice to stakeholders and management and third-party customers on technical mattersSupport or lead activities such as plant inspections, network surveys, and the design and costing of network modifications. Prepare detailed technical specifications and cost estimates to support project planning and deliveryMaintain accurate records of activities to satisfy Maintenance and Capital Projects, NGN, third party and legislative requirementsWork towards all perimetry requirements and procedures including complex non-routine operations and routine operations affecting the NGN networkEnsure a high standard of customer and stakeholder service What we are looking for
Hands-on experience in fault finding, repair, and commissioning of pressure reduction installations and pre-heating systems, including component replacement and system optimisationFamiliarity with hazardous area operations, accurate completion of technical documentation, and the ability to manage spares and materials to support maintenance activitiesSelf-motivated, capable of planning your own activities and be able to use IT in the field for work reportingStrong problem-solver and an analytical-thinker with excellent communication skillsProactive attitude and a strong team player whilst also having the ability to work on your own initiative and comfortable with lone working out of hoursOperational and/or project management experience in a relevant fieldKnowledge of codes of practice, engineering instructions and safety requirements Qualifications & Requirements
EUSR Gas passport, SCO 1, 2 and 4, 5 Years' experience on gas distribution systems, TEM 2,4 and IOSHExperience of working on pressure reduction equipment above and below 7 barRelevant mechanical maintenance or pressure control training City & Guilds or NVQ III What we offer you
Salary from GBP44,112 per annum + bonus according to the operational incentive mechanism + van + overtime rising to GBP51,842 dependent on qualifying competencies at each stage41.25 hours per week over a 7-day variable work pattern, including standby. We cover large cities like Newcastle, Sunderland, Leeds, York, Hull, and Bradford, and our work extends to rural areas like North Yorkshire and Cumbria.
