Description

Mechanical Project Engineer London 12–Month Contract GBP400 GBP450 per day DOE

We re working with a well–established M&E contractor seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Engineer to work on a 12–month rail project in Central London.

Key Responsibilities

Assist in the planning, design, and delivery of mechanical systems for diverse engineering projects.

Review and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and project documentation for accuracy and compliance.

Coordinate with design teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to manage material procurement and delivery schedules.

Oversee on–site mechanical installation works, ensuring compliance with project requirements, safety standards, and quality procedures.

Support the Project Manager in tracking progress, resolving technical issues, and maintaining accurate documentation throughout the project lifecycle.

Prepare and review technical submittals, RFIs, and method statements.

Liaise with clients, consultants, and stakeholders to ensure clear communication and prompt resolution of issues.

Participate in commissioning, testing, and handover processes, ensuring systems are fully functional and meet regulatory standards.

Identify and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and value engineering opportunities.

Requirements

Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering / Building Services, with a minimum of 3 years post–qualification experience in a contracting environment.

Strong knowledge of HVAC systems and A&ID s, and piping systems with P&ID s.

Experience using project planning tools and updating project master plans.

Familiarity with BIM and software such as Navisworks (or similar).

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and large QA database systems (e.g., Eida).

Experience with project engineering tasks including technical submittals and RFIs.

Ability to work closely with site construction teams, preparing installation work packs and supporting the installation process.

Strong attention to detail, with the ability to perform under strict deadlines.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Rail project experience is advantageous but not essential.
