Description

Job Summary

The Electrical Development Engineer leads the technical aspects of New Product Development for powered equipment, battery systems and technology, and where specific electrical competence is required.

Duties

Lead technical aspects of product development for powered and battery powered equipment, providing technical insights, specifying products, testing prototypes, supporting customer field trials, creating quality documentation as well technical data, user manuals and specifications within the NPI process.

Key technical specialist supporting the commercial team with customer technical discussions.

Support compliance in identifying and obtaining correct standards for new products within the NPI Process.

Stay informed about competitor and market activities, trends and latest developments that could affect the Southgate equipment assortment. Take a proactive approach to identify opportunities for Existing Product Development, process improvements and media content execution that contribute to the continuous enhancement of products and services.

Support the business with technical expertise, complex investigations on warranty claims, quality issues and general trouble shooting of powered and battery powered equipment and electrical queries.

Maintains an understanding of Southgate Global equipment products including their features, specifications and applications.

Provides training for customers and internal teams on powered equipment, ensuring effective communication and understanding of key features and benefits.

Support marketing with creation of media content for powered equipment, ensuring the features and benefits, as well and functionalities of Southgate Global equipment is communicated effectively and professionally to customers.

Numerical skills

Good communication skills and the ability to present ideas to a broad range of stakeholders

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

Full UK driver's license and valid passport.

Competent computer skills - Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint

Knowledge of relevant regulation and legislation that covers the use of equipment.

Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.

Minimum NVQ Level 3 Electrical Engineering, ideally Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.

Problem solving methodologies and mindset, able to network and identify solutions through own knowledge and ability source external expertise.

Knowledge of Li-Ion battery technology and systems desirable.

Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in electrical/electronic product development.

Proven track record of taking products from concept through to production, including prototyping, testing, and design validation.

Continuous Improvement methodologies experience an advantage.
