Description
Domestic Matters is a Fife-based business, run by local mum, entrepreneur and house-proud cleaner Cara Wilson. The businesses is closely tied to motherhood: Cara set up her cleaning service in 2011, shortly after the birth of her first son, because she didn’t want to go back to work full time.
Her initial idea was simply that cleaning was something she could do well, other people needed, and a part-time job cleaning would give her more time to spend with her new family. However, Cara slightly underestimated just how much fellow Fife parents and busy workers needed and wanted some help in the home. Soon, work was coming in thick and fast, such was the demand for a trustworthy cleaning service to help people enjoy more of their busy lives. Cara found herself building a the team of skilled cleaners and before she knew it, she was running a business across Fife.
While the business grew, so did Cara’s family. The addition of a second son, and many happy customers, has ensured she still has plenty of first hand experience of exactly what it takes to work and look after a growing household. She knows that, however much we want to keep the home clean, it will always be low on the list of priorities when young children are growing up fast – not to mention any work or business ambitions!
As Cara learned to juggle business and family, it became her mission to ensure other working parents get to enjoy their kids as well. This is done by offering a personalised, friendly but professional service to clients over the Fife area. By taking on the chores her customers like the least, they save time and energy and still get to have the nice, tidy and healthy home – which is also important.
