Description

These three* drums have journeyed together and have a rich history in their creation and journeying potential. Two of the drums were carved from trees in North West Africa in the 90s and were drummed regularly in tribal ceremonies before finding their way across Europe and into UK, where I purchased them from the drummer who had studied and worked with the tribe and learned their rhythms for the drumming ceremonies. The first, and biggest, is a large tribal bass drum capable of producing extremely deep and rich tones. Its height is 26" and its drum head diameter varies across the skin but is approx 16 -17" wide. The second is the djembe, 18" height and 10" drum head diameter, again it has been crafted using traditional methods and is very heavy. Its tones are medium in range and can be played with the hands. The final drum is the white elephant, it arrived, origins unknown, and has a lighter tone than the bass drum but still rings deeply and with long, drawn out tones that range from high to mid to low. This drum is 16" diameter and 4" depth and has some weight. The skin is sensitive enough to be played with the hands also. The djembe has skin strong enough to be lightly played with a beater and of course can be struck hard and fast with the hands. These are all made with animal skins and have all taken part in ceremonial group and solo settings. The bass drum sounds amazing with the beaters but I have also played using only my hands and in the right temperatures a variety of deep bass tones can be produced.

Please let me know if you have any questions about one or all of the drums. Each one is priced differently and I will consider separate offers on these prices. Big bass drum £350 (includes homemade stand and beaters), djembe £100, The red framed shamanic frame drum is £100. The price given below is the price I will accept for them all to go as one family to the same buyer.

The frame drum is post-able, however the big bass drum and djembe are just too heavy for postage, so they are collection only.

Ideally I would love these drums to all go together as the have been a 'family' for a few years now, however, I will sell individually if necessary. Sad to sell but their destiny is no longer up to me.

* was four drums! Now three as the central frame drum in the main photo has sold. The new price reflects this and I will consider offers on all.

Thanks
