Transport Planning Team LeaderLocation: GloucesterSalary: £30,000 - £35,000 Dependent on experienceAbout the RoleWe are looking for an experienced and motivated Transport Planning Team Leader to join our Gloucester operations. You will lead and support a team of Transport Planners responsible for organising drivers and vehicles to achieve optimum payloads for vehicle collection and delivery. This is a hands-on leadership role focused on delivering sustainable, cost-effective transport solutions while ensuring legal compliance and operational excellence.Transport Planning Operations

Organise driver/vehicle run schedules for collection and/or delivery of vehicles, ensure cost effectiveness with full capacity and compatible geographic locations

Plan run schedules for each driver in consideration of EU driving regulations in respect of breaks, driving limits and rest periods

Incorporate returns, deliveries and site transfers into run schedules

Manage failed collection reports and continuously identify improvements

Ensure we meet contractual service obligations

Actively manage team inbox and communications

Lead and manage the Transport Planning team effectively

Complete all reasonable tasks requested by colleagues efficiently and safely Leadership & Development of Direct Reports (Transport Planner)

SAFETY FIRST! Take ownership of all general team health, safety, wellbeing and compliance matters, seeking support from relevant areas wherever needed, escalate as appropriate

Recruit effectively in partnership with the People Team and induct/onboard accordingly

Manage people resource levels to meet business need

Manage team member’s T & A (Time & Attendance) on relevant software in line with payroll cut offs

Coach, feedback & continuously develop self and team ensuring they have the skills, knowledge & tools to perform

Performance Management of team including up to date Job Descriptions, one to ones/feedback/4 x 4 Quarterly Performance Conversations, clear objectives set, results measured, activities monitored, quality checks of work

Engage & motivate team to deliver growth & continuous improvements

Manage own & team behaviours in line with our aspirational culture, vision & values

Communicate business goals and messages & locally manage any changePerson Specification

Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar Transport planning Leadership Role

Experience of working in a busy and pressured office environment.

Excellent IT Skills

Strong Ability to delegate tasks

Excellent knowledge of UK road network and geographical areas

Understanding of the vehicle salvage Industry

Math's and English GCSE or equivalent

Ability to affectively prioritise workload

Strong leadership skills

Ability to work under your own initiative and as part of a team

Positive ‘Can Do’ Attitude

Good organisational skills
