Inspector / Toolmaker / Fabricator

Based in Leyland

£16.00 – £19.00 per hour (DOE) + Bonus Scheme

Full-time, Permanent | 4-day working week (Mon–Thu, 7:00am–5:00pm, 38hrs)

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Inspector / Toolmaker / Fabricator. This is a hands-on position that combines inspection, fabrication, and jig/toolmaking, ensuring our components meet the highest quality standards while assisting with bespoke projects.

Key Responsibilities

Inspection

*

Measure and record components against engineering drawings.

*

Inspect flat, folded, and welded metalwork for dimensions, flatness, distortion, and weld quality.

*

Check surface finishes, grinding quality, paint thickness, and appearance.

*

Produce dimensional reports, log findings, complete submission warrants, and part identification.

Fabrication

*

Undertake one-off and small-batch fabrication, including handcrafted jobs.

*

Work with various processes including cutting, drilling, grinding, and assembly.

Toolmaking & Jigs

*

Use basic lathe and milling skills to manufacture jigs and tools to specification.

*

Design, test, and prove jigs for production use.

What We’re Looking For

Strong background in inspection, fabrication, or toolmaking.

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.

Skilled in using measurement tools (verniers, micrometers, gauges, etc.).

Hands-on experience with fabrication techniques.

Basic lathe/milling knowledge for jig/tool production.

Attention to detail and ability to log accurate reports.

Flexible, proactive, and a team player.
