Description

We are seeking a polished and extremely presentable Under Butler to join the household team in a formal private residence in Hampshire.

This position involves delivering outstanding, discreet, and bespoke luxury service. In addition to assisting with general household duties to ensure the efficient running of the property, the Under Butler will work under the supervision of the Head Butler and as a member of a sizable and committed household team, the ideal candidate must possess strong collaboration skill.

The family are not in-residence full time, therefore duties will vary day to day.

Duties include:

Preparing the residence ahead of the family’s arrival
Meeting and greeting guests
Full beverage service, including tea and coffee
Formal table settings
Silver service at formal events
Caring for china and silver ware, as well as ensuring the cleanliness of various household areas
Assisting with the coordination and hosting of events
Valet duties such as clothing care and shoe shining

Key requirements include:

Experience: proven experience in a similar role within a luxury household

Skills: the ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong interpersonal and communication skills, and a polished and professional presence. An in-depth understanding of both traditional and contemporary service standard

Flexibility: the willingness to adapt to a variety of duties based on the family’s presence and the wider Estate’s needs

This role can at times be physically demanding, with some heavy lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods of time. The ideal candidate with have meticulous attention to detail in all aspects of their work and understands the critical importance of confidentiality and discretion.
