Antique 9FT Oak Dining Table - Extending - 10 Seater - 277 cm - Oval
Shepton Mallet, Somerset
£1,000
Description
An unusual and impressive very large solid oak oval dining table with classic turned legs connected by a Y stretcher. This table has an abundance of character. The top is quite unusual with planks arranged in a design to give it more interest, there's also three additional leaves which can be added making it over 9ft in length and easily seating 10 people depending on your chair sizes. The whole top and leaves can be removed to make it much easier to transport and get into your home. The table top is thick and incredibly heavy and of a very good quality. This is estimated to date to the Georgian or early Victorian period.
In good condition for its age with scratches from use and a cup ring on one of the leaves. One of the leaves particularly seems to have had woodworm in the past, it's still solid and strong and we've treated it to be sure that it's not active. When no extra leaves are added the two oval leaves can be clipped together, the fastening on one side doesn't hold very well, but it doesn't effect use. The base is solid and strong and some legs are a bit more faded in colour than the rest.
Dimensions: H 76.5 x W 109.5 x L 277.5 cm.
Length without extra leaves: 173 cm,
Thickness of top: 4 cm,
Width of two leaves: 37cm each,
Width of smaller leaf: 30 cm
