Hours: Part Time, 17 hours per week guaranteed - occasional 22 hour cover weekends. More information below.

Days: Every Friday, Saturday, Sunday

Pay: £13 per hour

Location: Glasgow- Dennistoun and Cathcart

Requirements: Applicants would need to have their own car and a valid driving license.

Who are we?

We are A.Pastry Shop! An independent vegan bakery established in 2020.

We have two shops across Glasgow - one in Cathcart and another in Dennistoun. Our bakers work tirelessly throughout the week to cook up a broad selection of vegan treats and our baristas spend the weekends selling them to hungry customers. We also bake commission cakes and deliver wholesale orders to cafes across Glasgow. We’re a small team - but a busy one.

The Role:

The role we are hiring for is a hybrid position. We are currently in search of a Barista-Delivery Driver to join our team on a part time basis.

The dominant aspect of the role is delivery driving. Our bakery has two shops in Glasgow, and we also supply various cafes across Glasgow with fresh bakes. As such, we require a delivery driver to pack and deliver our bakes every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday morning from 7am - 11am. The driver would need to be okay with lifting and carrying and should also have a friendly demeanor when interacting with our various clients. Punctuality is very important for this role as cafes expect their delivery to arrive during a particular window of time each morning so that they are able to prepare for their opening.

The delivery driver is compensated for their fuel cost at 50p per mile, tracking the closest route via Google Maps.

Delivery drivers would need to have their own car and a valid driving license.

The Barista aspect of the role is smaller. The hired applicant would be required to work a five hour front of house shift, additional to their delivery work each week.

The applicant will be a friendly face for our customer base, serving them great quality coffees and bakes. They should therefore have great (and consistent!) customer service skills, be able to build rapport with regular customers. They must be able to confidently handle the coffee queue, without getting flustered or stressed. Previous coffee machine experience would be a great asset.

At times, the barista will also be expected to cover other front of house staff so that they may take their annual leave. At these times, the barista will set up the bakery at the start of the day, (displaying our bakes, awakening the till, prepping for service), then run the shop throughout the day, before finally closing down the shop at the end of the day (cleaning everything down, storing bakes correctly, mopping up, closing the till). As such, we are looking for a reliable candidate who understands the importance of their role within the wider time.

Expected Shift Pattern:

On a regular weekend the Barista-Delivery driver will work the following hours:

FRIDAY - 7am until 11am (deliveries)

SATURDAY - 7am until 11am (deliveries)

SUNDAY - 7am until 11am (deliveries) + 11am - 4pm (barista)

When covering Front of House staff for occasional annual leave periods:

FRIDAY - 10am - 5pm (barista)

SATURDAY - 9am - 5pm (barista)

SUNDAY - 9am - 4pm (barista)

Please note: these are expected schedules but may change slightly depending on the needs of the bakery.

Why is this a Hybrid Role?

We have combined the role of barista and delivery driver into one hybrid position so as to make up a regular part time position and offer the candidate a sustained and reliable amount of hours.
