Senior Surveyor – Social Housing (Repairs / Damp & Mould)

Location: West London

Rate: 35.46 per hour (PAYE)

Contract Type: Temporary

The Opportunity

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Surveyor to join a respected local authority in West London on a temporary basis. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in social housing repairs, damp and mould, and disrepair cases, looking to make an immediate impact within a busy property services team.

You will be responsible for carrying out inspections, managing complex repair cases, overseeing contractors, and ensuring properties are maintained to high standards of safety and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Undertake inspections and surveys across housing stock, focusing on repairs, damp and mould, and disrepair cases.

Diagnose building defects and recommend cost–effective, compliant remedial works.

Prepare detailed technical reports, schedules of work, and specifications.

Oversee contractors and operatives, ensuring works are delivered on time, within budget, and to required standards.

Liaise with residents, providing clear communication and excellent customer service.

Ensure compliance with housing legislation, building regulations, and health & safety requirements.

Support legal disrepair cases, providing technical evidence and reports when required.

Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the housing service.

Requirements

Proven experience as a Surveyor or Senior Surveyor within social housing – essential.

Strong background in repairs, damp & mould, and housing disrepair.

Excellent technical knowledge of building pathology and property condition.

Experience managing contractors and supervising housing works programmes.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical reporting.

Knowledge of housing legislation, landlord & tenant law, and compliance standards.

Full UK driving licence preferred.
