Building Manager – Homeless Hostel

Description

Adecco are seeking a proactive and dedicated Building Manager to oversee the management of temporary accommodation units for homeless individuals and those with mental health needs. This is a vital role ensuring safe, clean, and supportive environments for vulnerable residents.

Building Manager Public Sector – Local Authority Temporary Role – 6 months Full Time – Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm 21.72 per hour PAYE / 28.68 per hour UmbrellaNo hybrid working available – fully office based in Thornton Heath, Croydon.

Key Responsibilities

Manage admissions, discharges, and day–to–day housing operationsSupervise cleaning, maintenance, and security staffConduct health & safety checks including fire safety and water hygieneLiaise with support agencies and internal teams to ensure resident welfareMaximize rental income and minimize void periodsRespond to resident enquiries and manage tenancy issues, including legal action when necessary

What We're Looking For

Experience in hostel or housing managementStrong understanding of homelessness and related legislationExcellent communication and problem–solving skillsAbility to manage a varied workload independentlyCommitment to equality, safeguarding, and customer serviceProficiency in MS Office and housing management systems (e.g., OHMS)This role is subject to an Enhanced DBS Check.
