I have 9 years Science teaching experience across a range of Secondary schools (over 6,000 hours of lessons taught). Along with my PGCE and QTS qualifications, I have held various leadership responsibilities, including Head of Combined Science and Head of Chemistry. In addition to my Science responsibilities, I have also held positions in DofE coordination and Teacher Training.
I am highly experienced with the AQA GCSE Biology and Combined Science (9-1) courses, and exam technique skills, having worked with this specification since 2016. I hold a degree in Biology and Applied Environmental Sciences, which includes Chemistry components, and I also studied Chemistry to A-Level standard.
I recently added online tutoring to my professional repertoire and have been thoroughly enjoying this (currently over 100 hours of tutoring). I have always had a passion for helping others learn Science and supporting them to reach their full potential. My tutees consistently return week after week, with many requesting additional sessions during half term and weekends as exams approach. I believe they return because of my adaptability in teaching methods, my persistence in helping them improve, and my ability to identify the specific areas where they need additional support.
My tutoring approach combines comprehensive exam practice with focused exam technique development to build confidence and improve performance. I also utilise visual tools and memory aids to help students retain information and provide quick reminders in areas where they need extra support.
I can tutor AQA Biology Triple Higher and Foundation levels, as well as tutoring the Trilogy course of AQA Combined Science Higher and Foundation, covering all aspects of Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
While my expertise lies primarily with the AQA course, I am happy to support students following other exam boards and have the appropriate resources and examination practice materials to match their needs.
