Large Rustic Nautical Pitch Pine Sailors Trunk Storage Chest,
circa 1840s.

~ Blanket Box Storage Chest ~

We are delighted to offer this gorgeous & really quite impressive antique sailor’s trunk. This is a genuine mid 19th Century survivor with original owners brass name plaque that reads ‘ J. H. H. BRIERLEY ‘. It also retains its original nautical becket twisted hemp rope handles. Heavy weight chest with dove tail joint construction. It's had some historic repairs over the years but remains solid & is a very usable chest. Nice brass lock escutcheon detail to the front but sadly no internal lock. The patination on this impressive pine chest is to die for. Lots of wear, dinks, scuffs & age related wood splits all of which just adds to its antique charm. It remains in good strong usable solid condition. It has a deep amber gold colour only achieved over many many years. It's been properly cleaned inside & out, waxed & inner surface sealed so is now ready to use, love & enjoyed once more.

It's construction & design is typical of its mid 19th Century period & would date nicely to circa 1840's. It would make for a fabulous storage blanket box or country house window seat.

Overall a fabulously survivor of an antique English Sailors trunk . . .
