Description

This spindle and splat back chair with continuous arm rail is a really fine example of traditional workmanship, complemented by the beautifully shaped front arm rests. This style of carved back and smooth spindle work is hard to find. Even under the seat there is a mirroring of the curved framework and turned spindles making this chair quite the collectors piece. The solid saddle seat is another example where the sculpted shape has been carried out to maximise comfort and beauty. There’s nonstandard spindle work on this chair, even the 4 splayed legs are purpose made for strength. The lacquered finish befits this exquisite example of a feature chair with an overall warmth and desirability.
