VINTAGE FRENCH BOBBIN LEG STOOL, WOODEN DEMI LUNE TRIPOD PLANT STAND, SIDE TABLE, MILKING STOOL, NICELY DISTRESSED PATINA, 45cm tall - 1940s - REDUCED!

Selling our collections (hoards) of mostly French vintage items that have been acquired over many years until finally we have no room for more!

We got this from a brocante at Saint-Quentin in the Aisne region and have used it as a decorative table in a bathroom.
It’s a handmade wooden stool with three turned bobbin legs and a Demi-Lune (half moon or semicircle) seat in the arts and crafts style which is now nicely distressed with worn layers of paint.

Dating to around the 1940s it is now worn with an attractive patina but still sound and makes a great decorative display piece, side table, plant stand…

In good vintage condition with wear, staining and knocks but no damage - please examine photographs carefully for condition.
Made from wood, I believe oak, which appears to have been originally varnished then painted but is now worn with peeled paint layers, predominantly white but also with faint traces of blue - see photos.
All surfaces are stable, clean and have had a coat of beeswax.
The seat is a single piece cut in a demi lune, or semi circle, that is worn but very sound.
Structurally solid and I have sat on it but probably no longer recommended as a seat.
The legs are glued I think, have very little movement, and are strong.
They are well turned and have wear but stand reasonably straight.
There are two cross braces that are in sound and secure condition.
Note: the front leg appears to have had a screw repair at the joint with the rear cross brace. This is secure with no movement - see photos.
The feet are worn from use but sound.
I can find no maker’s mark.

Measures approximately:
46 cm tall,
Seat 30x20 cm, 2.5 cm thick,
Maximum leg span 36-38 cm,
Weighs about 1.9 kg.
