Part Time Carer / Support Worker

Description

Caring for a 54 year old lady with a physical disability. You will be joining a friendly team of carers who provide assistance with various aspects of daily life and to help the client maintain as much independence as possible.

Hours

Daytime hours - approx 15 per week. Shifts are variable and details will be discussed at interview. Ability to start some shifts at 8am is essential.

Nighttime hours - Overnight shift Sunday 11pm - Monday 7am.

The job is open to one individual doing all daytime and nightime shifts OR applicants can apply to do daytime or nighttime separately.

Duties of the post -

Daytime

Personal care – assistance with getting up, showered and dressed in morning, and toileting throughout the day.
Domestic tasks – assistance with meal preparation, laundry, household cleaning and tidying.
Social – support for various social activities, hobbies and shopping.

Nighttime

Assisting with ventilation mask at night
Re-positioning in bed if required

All relevant training will be provided.

Salary

The rate of pay will be minimum gross £14.25 per hour for daytime, and £12.35 per hour for nighttime (please note this cannot be paid cash in hand).

Ability to speak fluent English / good communication skills
Ability to cover shifts commencing 8am and to work some weekends
Ability to work to a flexible pattern
Ability to work with others
Awareness of the importance of respecting confidentiality and privacy, and respecting the client's independence
Willingness to participate in appropriate training and ability to adapt to the specified needs of the post as required by the employer
Willingness to cover while other staff are away

Desirable

Non-smoker
Clean driving license and willingness to drive a wheelchair accessible van
Willingness to undertake occasional extra duties, possibly in unsociable hours
Basic cooking skills.
Previous experience in the care sector is desirable but not essential
