Vw Volkswagen TRANSPORTER T5 campervan

Description

Purchased in 2022 as a semi converted dayvan with engine issues we have converter, upgraded and used extensively over the last few years. Details, spec and service history as below:

2007 T5 Transporter panel van 4 berth conversion

Mot till November 25
214,000 miles (but had major top end engine work in 2022, see below)

Engine
Skimmed head (2022)
New headgasket (2022)
New PD150 head bolts (2022)

All the above was fitted by John Holmes legendary mobile T5 mobile mechanic who travels the country fixing T5's

We were told the cambelt and water pump were replaced just before we brought it and when the above work was carried out it looked new (see photos)

We have a pile of paperwork for work carried out. Since our ownership I have self serviced, oil and filter changed every year with 5-30w, last service carried out july 2025. It also had a new air filter and fuel filter last year.

Last summer we completed an 850 mile trip around the south of England without issue and wouldn’t hesitate to take on another long trip. I use the van to commute so mileage will increase

Bad bits
This is a 17 year old van that we have used a lot (we have camped out every weekend through the summer for 2 years) so the body work does have some marks here and there but no major damage

Some rust bubbles are starting to show around the arches.

Window wipers don’t work on intermediate setting, all other settings are fine

It was previously damaged (cat s) something hit the underside damaging the fuel tank. This was inspected, replaced and repaired, see the attached receipt.

This really is a hard decision but with the kids are getting older we need something bigger (so have just converted a Crafter)
