Description
TRYDYDD CERDDI CRWYS. First Edition 1935. WILLIAM WILLAMS
This antiquarian book of a collection of Welsh poems by William Williams (Crwys).
Published in 1935 by Hughes a'i Fab, Wrexham, in the Welsh language.
Hard cover, 121 pages, appx. 190mm x 130mm x 15mm. Tightly bound, with wide margins on each leaf, sometimes found in antiquarian books. Also leaves are decked edged, here they are not trimmed, again a feature of an antiquarian book probably hand made and sometimes associated with first editions, (no edition stated) helping to make it a collectors item.
Some surface blemishes on the front cover. Some wear of one conner of cover.
Inside front cover inscribed Mr Richard Jones, Braichgarw Uchaf, Talybont, Cards. – the original owner of the book, which has been passed down through the family.
There is some foxing, mainly on the front and rear page.
Author William Williams, bardic name Crwys (1875-1968) was a poet, minister and preacher, and a prominent figure in the National Eisteddfod, where he won the crown on three occasions, and was an Archdruid.
This book has had little use with the pages in good/very good condition, clean with no fading, and is very collectable.
Thanks for looking, any query, please contact me.
