Description

Looking for a great project? This could be your next big adventure, Corsair is a beautiful historic vessel with solid bones and tons of potential for the right buyer to turn her into an incredible 3-4 bedroom home. Taken on as a project a year and a half ago her current owners completed the majority of the stripout as the old interior had deteriorated beyond the point of restoration. She's a blank canvas that now needs a good deal of work and TLC to bring her back to her former glory as shown in the last two photos.

OVERVIEW
She is a 52’ x 18’2” wooden ex-fishing trawler conversion and available for sale for offers around £25,000.00. Currently moored on water on a transferable mooring near Millbrook, she is close the beautiful Cornish heritage coastline of Rame Peninsula which is just 30 mins drive from Plymouth via the Torpoint Car Ferry.

LAYOUT
Corsair has a large open deck to the bow with large walkways to both sides of the wheel house leading to a good sized stern deck that will make a fantastic outdoor entertaining space. From here you enter the wheel house where as it stands there is a basic galley kitchen. There is currently no running water but there is a useable sink with a small gas oven unit with one working hob (we have never tried using the oven function). There is a good amount of counter space with working log burner.

Up a couple of steps you enter the navigation cabin, all equipment has been retained but is disconnected so she is currently not navigable under her own power and would require an auxiliary vessel for relocation.

Below deck the boat has been entirely stripped back so that it is one huge open space and everything is visible ready for renovation. It had been our intention to remove the engine and old steel diesel tanks to create more habitable space turning Corsair into a static house boat however with our decision to sell we have chosen to leave these for the new owners to make that decision.

HISTORY
Built in 1965 in Eyemouth, Scotland Corsair was constructed as a fishing vessel using larch planking on an oak frame. She was decommissioned from her fishing duties and converted to a yacht for private use in 2003 by her then owner who cruised her around the British Isles. In 2017 she was purchased by the previous owner and permanently moored near Torpoint in Cornwall where she was used as a full-time live aboard for 7 years. Unfortunately as the materials used in the initial pleasure use fitout had not been durable the boats interior deteriorated significantly during these years to the point that at the time the last purchaser took her on a full renovation was required as well as extensive repairs to the exterior timbers of the boat.

CURRENT CONDITION
Corsair is very much so still a project boat, she has been fully stripped back below deck exposing the oak frame which is still strong and generally in fair condition although localised repairs are required.

Some of the hulls Caulking was redone in November 2022, so while she is sound and taking no water below the waterline, extensive re-caulking and timber repairs are required to the cladding and the decking above the waterline to stop fresh water entering.

Temporary repairs have been made by the current owners in a bit to minimise entrance of rain water but these will need a professional rectification before any interior work can commence. She is fitted with two Seaflow auto bilge pumps for peace of mind, these are powered by two solar panels located on the deck.

The Wheelhouse has been left largely untouched save removal or some internal paneling so that there is a useable space during renovation of the lower deck.

The last survey was undertaken in November 2022 and can be made available to any serious prospective buyers.

*****

Unfortunately due to a change in circumstances we, the current owners, are very sad that we are unable to proceed with our plans to renovate her into a luxury home and have made the hard decision to pass her on to someone who can give this beautiful historic vessel the time and love she requires.
