BMW E30 316i LUX Auto – 1990 – Project Car

Up for sale is my 1990 BMW E30 316i LUX Auto. This is being sold as a project car and will need to be trailered away. I purchased the car in 2013, drove it home, and it has been parked up since. Before buying this one, I viewed several so-called “easy projects” that were rust buckets – this is not one of those. It’s a solid shell with only minimal rust repairs required, making it an excellent base for restoration.

Engine & Mechanical

Replaced the fuel pump and fuel filter this year – resolved the non-starting issue.

Engine ran well initially but is now running rich (likely due to old/new fuel mix) – fuel injectors may need cleaning or replacing.

Will require a full service after being off the road for 12+ years.

Needs a new battery.

Gearbox in good working condition.

Brakes – pedal feels spongey, requires attention.

Suspension – lowered 60mm front, 40mm rear on coil springs.


Bodywork & Rust

Overall bodywork in sound condition, but paint is faded in places – would need a respray to be immaculate.

Both front wings require replacement (rust + dent on driver’s side).

Rear valance requires rust repair.

Rear arches in good condition.

Sunroof in good condition with no leaks.

All rust patches shown in photos provided.


Interior & Boot

Interior in very good condition overall, apart from the driver’s seat bolster.

Boot requires a carpet mat.

Boot seals all in good condition.
