Description
2008 - BMW Z4 (E85) - 3.0 Si SE - Bright Red (AKA Hellrot Red) - 119k miles.
Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or you would like to make a reasonable offer.
GOOD POINTS:
- Excellent MoT history for the age and mileage. The only rust related warning it has ever received was on the most recent MoT, for an exhaust clamp that was immediately replaced. It has never had any other warnings for corrosion.
- Detailed service history
- Two keys, both working.
- V5C document.
- Two owners in the last ten years, including me.
- I purchased the vehicle in 2020 from a moderator of the Z4 Forums.
- In my ownership it has done 45k miles and never let me down.
- It hasn't been used for commuting or short journeys. I have driven it for pleasure on daily, weekend or longer road trips.
- BMW OEM Z4M seats, which are electronically adjustable and heated.
- M-Tech 2 steering wheel, from the E36 M3, with tricolour stitching.
- Cruise control
- Factory fitted windbreaker.
- Roof motor relocated to the boot. This is a desirable upgrade because the motors often fail when left in their original location, due to water ingress.
- Four Bridgestone Weather Control A005 Evo all-season tyres with good tread. I originally planned to have two sets of wheels/tyres, the A005's for winter and a UHP summer tyre for the rest of the year. However, the A005's exceeded my expectations, so I stuck with them throughout the year.
- I refreshed part of the suspension at roughly 90k miles. New dampers, Eibach lowering springs, top mounts & bump stops front and rear. I also changed the front anti roll bar bushes. I followed this with a four-wheel alignment using Hunter machine.
- It uses the N52B30, which is considered to be a very reliable engine. Many hundreds of thousands were built and installed in 1 ,3, 5, 6 & 7 series, as well as the X1, X3 and X5 SUV's.
RECENT SERVICES:
- 2019 (83,588 miles) - Inspection 1.
- 2020 (92,140 miles) - Oil service.
- 2021 (103,477 miles) - Inspection 2.
- 2022 (113,786 miles) - Oil service.
- 2025 (118,967) - Oil & oil filter change.
ALSO INCLUDED:
- Full set of visually unmarked staggered BMW 18" Style 32 wheels. One of them has a significant flat spot. It was balanceable but I recommend getting it straightened.
- Hubcentric spacers (15mm front and 20mm rear) to go with these wheels. Along with the required longer wheel bolts.
- Full set of original SE springs in usable condition.
MODIFICATIONS:
- Veemann V-FS25 wheels with locking nuts and two keys.
- Non run flat tyres, which improves ride-quality.
- Eibach lowering springs.
- Rear spoiler from the BMW aero kit.
- Quantum Tuning remap producing a claimed 288bhp. In my humble opinion this is optimistic but I haven't had it dynoed.
- DLV mod to exhaust backbox internals. Enhances/increases the sound on throttle but doesn't drone when cruising.
- aFe Pro Dry panel air filter.
- Clutch delay valve deleted, which improves clutch feel/engagement.
- Stubby aerial.
- Roof motor relocated to the boot.
- BMW OEM Z4M seats.
- M-Tech 2 steering wheel.
- Weighted aluminium gear knob.
- Alpine Bluetooth head unit.
BAD POINTS:
- Up until the recent MoT, it hadn't been driven since 2023 due to illness but I started it and drove it up and down my driveway once a week. Don't be put off by the condition of the brake discs. They looked far worse before the MoT but they cleaned up fine; after a few hard but safe braking stops on the way to the test centre. There were no warnings for the brakes on the MoT.
- This is not a show car. In my humble opinion, it looks good from a few meters away but less so close up. The paint has faded in various places, in particular the nearside front wing and bootlid. Unfortunately, this isn't unusual for red cars of this age.
- Three brake callipers are painted red, the fourth is unpainted. Aesthetically, it would be nice to repaint them but it doesn't affect their functionality.
- One of the rear number plate bulb holders doesn't stay neatly in place. It doesn't bother me but it would be super cheap to buy a replacement from a breakers.
- Small chip on the windscreen but it doesn't impact visibility and has never grown further.
- It is SORN so there will be no test drives.
