Description
Vintage Raleigh bike. Made in England. This is a ladies racing bike and goes back to around 1976. The size is a traditional adult bike of the period when bikes weren't purchased in bits and pieces. It has 6 gears and racing handlebars with the gear change lever on the right hand side of the frame. Colour scheme is mainly red with silver mudguards. The design is a Falcon racer designed by Ernie Clements. The frame is a traditional step through frame for ladies. It had a complete overhaul and clean at the beginning of the summer 2023. The tyres are brand new at the time of the overhaul. It still has the original bike pump which is silver but I am unsure if it still works. The seat is the original although there are some marks and a small tear. The frame and wheel size are standard for an adult bike of its period. The frame is approx. 21" (53.4cm) in height & 38.1/2" (98cm) in length. The wheels have an approx. diameter of 27.1/4" (69cm) including the tyre & the pedal is approx. 7.1/2" (19cm) long. The chain is clean and in good working order. It was very well used from the mid 70's to early 90's. I cycled everywhere in those days. I enjoyed riding the bike but haven't ridden it since then and probably won't in the future. It has got a bit dusty from being in the garage after it's restoration but that's all it is and it will be polished up again for its next owner. For information it was purchased in Newark in a cycle shop on Appletongate. I do have quite a few more photos if interested. Collection preferred but will meet within a reasonable distance.
