Description
Shop floor selling:
1. Greet customers in a warm, friendly, and polite way and assist them with their decision making and purchase, offering the best possible customer service and upselling where possible.
2. Serve the customers in a professional manner and to take payment for their purchase using the till, card machine and any other payment transaction method you have been trained in. Handle cash, use note checkers supplied and ensure the day’s takings are always cashed up and reconciled.
3. To ‘up sell’ and promote the products and help drive sales up to reach KPI targets.
4. Maintain a well organised and secure customer database and make efforts to increase this by the data capture methods the company uses.
5. Ensure you and other staff are PCI compliant and handle private customer data correctly and in accordance with company policy.
6. Issue customers with current and relevant offers, leaflets and any other company initiative designed to increase the company customer database or in the collection of positive feedback.
7. Handle and direct customer complaints through the Head of Retail and the Head of Customer Service and Operations to bring these through to positive conclusions wherever possible, maintaining professionalism, fairness, and excellent customer service, whilst doing your very best not to lose sales. Follow company policy, advice, and legal stipulations for resolving such issues.
General Gallery housekeeping:
1. Ensure the gallery is sufficiently stocked and that this is well organised in stock rooms as well as on the gallery shop floor.
2. Ensure you and your team are replenishing and pricing stock in the gallery on a regular. You should ensure that at least one of all our products are always on display (with the exception of prints). This may include moving and lifting some heavy items or items at high and low levels.
3. Keep the gallery, workrooms, store areas, communal staff and sanitary rooms clean, tidy, free of tripping hazards and presentable always including staff areas on display such as the kitchen and front reception desk. Ensure the floor is swept/hoovered each night and mopped. We accept that at extremely busy times this presents a challenge, but safety must still be top priority and therefore tripping hazards should be removed. Delegate where necessary.
4. Attend staff and management meetings.
Management duties:
1. Support our sales consultants achieve amazing results to promote the Lucy Pittaway brand, deliver our ‘Lucy Pittaway Experience’ and hit targets.
2. Train other staff in the day to day running of the gallery according to their job description, the health and safety policy of the company and GDPR compliance.
3. Monitor staff performance and undertake reviews and appraisals.
4. Delegate duties to the staff reporting to you in a fair and consistent manner and one which will help you to maintain a steady workload for yourself without overburdening the staff reporting to you. Always endeavour to lead by example, demonstrating professionalism and encouraging them and supporting them in their role. Maintain a positive attitude, keeping calm under pressure and reassuring the team that objectives can be met.
5. Evaluate and measure your processes regularly, maintain good working practices, high standards and ensure there is reporting of mistakes to look for ways to avoid these in future. Consult with your team on these issues encouraging the free flow of ideas and feedback to facilitate improvement of efficiency and output through excellent planning and organisation.
6. Hold meetings with your sales staff team on a regular basis to ensure they remain motivated and informed. Communication is key. Work with the relevant team members to ensure vital information is communicated and maintained across the business from the Directors, through management and to the wider team.
7. Help prepare for, set up and attend retail and trade events, exhibitions, launch evenings and similar events.
8. Adhere to all the company’s Health and Safety and Health and Hygiene rules and regulations and ensure other staff are too.
9. Report to the Head of Retail regarding any issues relating to your day-to-day work, other staff, or customers in order that they are swiftly addressed and resolved if needed.
10. Always carry out your work in a professional manner and in accordance with the company’s staff Handbook, your Statement of Main Terms of Employment and company policies
