Description

We are looking for a talented and versatile Maintenance Operative to join our dynamic One Avenue Group team. If you take pride in your work and enjoy a variety of hands-on tasks, this role is for you. You will be responsible for a wide range of maintenance activities within our commercial office spaces, from wallpapering and tiling to carpet laying and general upkeep. Your work will be essential in keeping our facilities not just safe and functional, but also vibrant and visually appealing for our clients. If you’re a can-do person who loves tackling different challenges and contributing to a positive, collaborative work environment, this could be your ideal role.

The responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to, the following:

- Wallpapering: Measure, cut, and apply wallpaper accurately. Prepare surfaces by removing old wallpaper, filling cracks, and smoothing walls to achieve a professional finish.

- Tiling: Install, repair, and replace tiles on floors, walls, and other surfaces. Ensure tiles are cut, aligned, and grouted correctly to maintain a high-quality finish.

- Carpet Laying: Install carpet in designated office areas, ensuring proper fitting and securing. Handle tasks such as underlay installation, edge binding, and carpet repairs as necessary.

- General Maintenance: Perform a variety of general maintenance tasks, including painting, minor plumbing repairs, and basic electrical work. Ensure all work is completed safely and to company standards.

- Preventive Maintenance: Regularly inspect office spaces to identify potential maintenance issues. Address any concerns proactively to prevent disruptions to office operations.

- Collaboration: Work closely with other maintenance staff, contractors, and office management to complete projects efficiently. Assist in planning and scheduling maintenance activities to minimise impact on office operations.

- Health and Safety: Adhere to all health and safety regulations, maintaining clean and organised work areas to prevent hazards.

- Record Keeping: Keep accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time spent on each task. Provide regular updates and reports to the Facilities Manager.

Qualifications:

- Proven experience in wallpapering, tiling, carpet installation, and general maintenance.

- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and carpentry is a plus.

- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.

- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.

- Physical ability to perform manual labour, including lifting heavy objects, standing for long periods, and working in confined spaces.

- Ability to follow instructions and deliver high-quality work.

- Good communication skills and a professional attitude.

Education and Experience:

- Vocational training or certification in relevant maintenance fields is preferred.

- 3+ years of experience in a maintenance role, preferably in a commercial setting.

Work Environment:

- Primarily based in commercial office spaces.

- May require occasional evening or weekend work depending on project demands.

- Must be comfortable working in a dynamic environment with the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
