WW2 MK5 Ross Binoculars - 7 x 50 Prismatic

Description

This is a set of vintage Ross of London, Stepnite binoculars - 7 x 50 Prismatic.

Ross of London supplied binoculars to the British and Allied forces during WW1 and WW2.

During WW2 Bino Prism No 5 - 7 x 50 binoculars were issued to the military for use by Coastal Watch and Anti-Aircraft Searchlight units.

These are the British Army No 5 versions adapted for civilian issue - the faint outline of the original MOD crows-foot arrow stamp, and traces of a serial number can just be made out etched into the left prism cover. These were often painted over by the manufacturer so they could be sold for civilian use.

These binoculars have independently focused eyepieces to allow for the calibration of each eyepiece to the differences between the observers left and right eyes.

The lenses are still in good condition for their age, and the light paths are still clear with very little degradation. The prisms are in good condition, and the collimation alignment is also good.

These superb binoculars represent the quality and craftsmanship produced by British engineering and manufacturing throughout WW2 and beyond. Perfect for WW2 collectors, and period re-enactments. Also included is an original WW2 khaki canvas neck strap.
