Description
Two fascinating Japanese hand puppets that have been hand painted. Heads are lightweight plaster or paper mache I believe. The body outfits are original possibly but I really don’t know. They are in need of a bit of stitching. Kismi had lost a little patch of hair and Dōke a small chip on his hat as shown.
Kismi was sold in London according to the box but presumably made in Japan and Dōke says made in Japan on the box which as shown has lost its bottom piece. I don’t know the dates but they’ve been in the family for 70 years. We never used them so any wear and tear is a result of the lucky original owners.
