Description

PAIR OF VINTAGE FRENCH TAXIDERMY WILD BOAR HOOVES COAT HOOKS, SANGLIER HOOF HUNTING RACK, HAT RACK, OAK MOUNT, TWO HOOK - REDUCED!

WILL POST - I can post this for £4.50 if paid for by bank transfer (Note - we only accept payment in cash on collection or by bank transfer if delivery agreed - no PayPal, card, or courier payment)

Selling our collections (hoards) of mostly French vintage items that have been acquired over many years until finally we have no room for more!

Part of our small collection of taxidermy, we got these from a flea market in Reims, Champagne.
It’s a pair of vintage hunting racks, coat hooks, hat hangers that date to around the 1970s.
Made from two Wild Boar, or Sanglier in French, hooves attached to curved oak shield plaques they are worn but still very sound.
I’m advised they would have originally been hung parallel to each other and used as a hunting equipment rack (bags, hats, guns/rifles).
They also now work well as rustic coat/hat hooks.

Great looking decorative collectibles, they fit in well with a home bar, man cave, country house look and are apparently quite rare…

In good vintage condition with light wear - please see examine photos carefully for condition.
Solid and sound with no structural damage.
The hooves (hooks) are in lightly worn and slightly tatty but sound condition - see photos.
They are each attached to an oak back plaque via an oak collar which has an attractive curved shape and stepped edge.
The hooks are secure at the joint to the plaque.
There are two fittings to the rear for hanging.
The plaques are oak and in good condition with no apparent active woodworm. There are some holes to the rear but they appear to be nail holes and a couple to the wooden collar to one hoof that may be old inactive woodworm holes - see photos.

Approximate dimensions:
19 cm tall vertically (back plaque),
15.5 cm wide,
13 cm deep from wall maximum,
Weigh about 730 g in total.
