Description
Eight day oak cased Grandfather clock circa 1840 or earlier in very good Antique condition, maker believed to be William Carter who was a clock maker originally from London but set up business in Salisbury around 1817, information from Google web page and Watchmakers and Clockmakers of the World vol II, Brian Loomes which highlights the history of this clock and there is printed information with this clock giving more provenance. Case is a two tone solid Oak; height is 83 inches, depth of 10 inches and it is 20 inches wide. Don't think there is any woodworm in the case, if there is it has been very well treated. Clock has recently had work whereby new weight cords and movement repair, door hinges replaced and a good oil, it is used daily and we wind this every seven or eight days and it keeps very good time.
