Description

Early Victorian Blonde Mahogany Drop-Leaf Work Table c.1840–1860

A beautifully presented early Victorian drop-leaf work table, dating from around 1840–1860 and crafted in finely grained solid mahogany that has mellowed over time into a desirable blonde, honey-toned finish. This warm, natural colour change is typical of refined 19th-century mahogany that has gently faded through sunlight and age, giving the table a soft, understated elegance.

The piece features twin drop leaves, two functional drawers, classic ring-turned legs, and retains its charming original white ceramic castors — a hallmark of mid-Victorian craftsmanship. Its compact footprint makes it incredibly versatile as a side table, bedside table, hallway piece, or small writing/work table.

This table is a perfect example of the quiet sophistication of early Victorian design. The blonde mahogany finish gives it an unusually soft, contemporary appeal, while still retaining all the authenticity, character and craftsmanship expected from a 19th-century antique. A piece that elevates a space without dominating it.

Condition
Age-related wear consistent with a c.1840–1860 piece, including gentle patination, honest surface marks and a beautifully mellowed colour. Drawers run well; castors turn freely.
