Description
Antique wooden coal scuttle with brass handle, fittings and decoration.
The handle on the top is very ornate. Inside is a metal liner
Size (approx.): 40cm tall (incl. handle), 35cm wide x 58cm long
Condition: Not sure when it was made, but I believe it has some age to it. Wood is worn/chipped in places (especially at the edges) , in line with age and being a practical piece of furniture. Needs a very good clean and polish. Wood is discoloured in places. Lid is still to open and is a little wonky to one side - needs a good nudge to fully close. One side is missing its brass decoration to the bottom corner edges. The ornate metal decoration at the front is attached at the lower part by a screw, which is present but has been unscrewed so that the decoration is raised.
Needs a bit of restoration but afterwards, would look great next to a fireplace, in a country cottage.
You are welcome to collect from South Dorset or possibly mid-Sussex coast by arrangement
