REDUCED!

WILL POST - I can post this for £7.50 if paid for by bank transfer (Note - we only accept payment in cash on collection or by bank transfer if delivery agreed - no PayPal, card, or courier payment).

Selling our collections (hoards) of mostly French vintage items that have been acquired over many years until finally we have no room for more!

We got this from a Brocante in Chepy in the Champagne region and have used it as a planter.
It apparently came from a local Champagne house where it was used in champagne production.

I’m advised this dates to the early 1900s and was originally used for measuring fluids, or even grain, the circumferential grooves each measure a litre of liquid, hence the plaque - POUR CHAQUE LITRE LE LIQUIDE DOIT RECOUVRIR LA CANNELURE CORRESPONDANTE (FOR EACH LITRE THE LIQUID MUST COVER THE CORRESPONDING GROOVE).
The other plaque is marked DECALITRE (ten litres).
It also has what I think is a small maker’s mark to the rear S.I.F

Now worn, rusted and no longer watertight but still in a very sound condition it makes a great planter, kindling bucket, decorative display item, either in a domestic or retail setting…

In good sound antique condition with rust, wear and knocks - please examine photographs carefully for condition.

Very sound and sturdy.
Well constructed from what appears to be two types of steel or similar, one type has rust with the other metal banding less so and showing a silver colour.
NOTE: No longer watertight, I can see no through perforation or holes but when filled with water this leaks and appears to be seeping water through the seams. There are a couple of rust holes to the upper plaque but they do not show through to the interior, however water does seep through them so I think the seams leak - see photos.
This was dirty so has had a quick rub down and clean resulting in a worn but very stable patina.
There is rusting, mostly surface rust with a couple of holes to the upper plaque, but no structural corrosion - see photos.
The iron handle is worn and rusted but still secure, strong and sound.
The base is worn but sound.
Marked as described above.

Measures approximately:
33 cm tall to the top of the pouring spout,
39 cm long at its longest, spout to edge,
24 cm diameter,
Weighs about 2.2 kg.
