ANTIQUE FRENCH CAST IRON FLAT IRON, SAD IRON, CAMION FRERES No5 - 1800s - REDUCED!

Selling our collections (hoards) of mostly French vintage items that have been acquired over many years until finally we have no room for more!

WILL POST - I can post this for £7 if paid for by bank transfer (Note - we only accept payment in cash on collection or by bank transfer if delivery agreed - no PayPal, card, or courier payment).

This is part of a collection we used as decorative display items, bookends, and doorstops but is actually a flat iron or sad iron from the late 1800s.

Made by the renowned cast iron foundry Camion Freres it would have probably originally been used to press military or police uniforms.

In good, sound, antique condition with rusting, wear and knocks but no damage or cracks - please examine photographs carefully for condition.
This is worn but without serious corrosion and has a relatively recent decorative coat of paint or similar with the lettering highlighted in gold - see photos.
The handle is secure.
Marked: Crest of an anchor with C F which is the trademark of Camion Freres and 5 to the underneath of the front handle joint.
Measure approximately:
17 cm long, 10 cm wide, 9 cm tall,
Weighs about 1.6 kg in total.
