Description

This sale is for a very rare, 1938, first edition of the book, "Straw in the Hair - An Anthology of Nonsensical and Surrealist Verse", compiled and edited by Denys Kilham Roberts which includes poems from Walter de la Mare, William Shakespeare, John Charlton, William Blake, Lewis Carroll, Edward Lear and many others including verse from unknown authors. This was published by John Lane, The Bodley Head in London. This is a hardback book which has red writing and a picture on the spine.

This is a very rare copy of several reasons. Firstly, it is signed by the editor, Denys Kilham Roberts in a dedication to a Camilla. Secondly, it is a First Edition. Thirdly, it is illustrated and Finally, there are not that many copies of the book around and none I could find with a signature.

The overall condition of the book is excellent with the exception of cracking in the spine in a couple of places (please see the advert pictures).
