Description
An authentic tilt-top table dating from the late 18th / early 19th Century. A circular Elm top set on an oak base with turned column and nicely shaped tripod splayed legs. The elm has developed a lovely warm colour and patina, with the overall effect showcasing the timeless appeal of traditional English furniture. The table has its original blacksmith-made closing latch.
The tilting top rests on a sturdy tripod base with gracefully curved legs, a hallmark of 18th-century tripod designs. The central turned support, with its distinctive ringed detailing, adds visual interest and structural integrity, highlighting the craftsmanship of this antique piece. It's perfectly suited for use as a side table, lamp table or small dining table, a testament to enduring design and quality.
It is in very good condition for its age and is strong and sturdy. There are signs of age and use, a few marks and minor stains on the top surface and sadly pieces missing from the underside (last 4 photos) which are not detrimental to the top itself. They are Invisible if position piece in corner as I do. This damaged is accounted for in listed price if repair desired.
The whole piece has a beautiful rich patina and is a lovely honest piece of country furniture.
The best description comes from the photos so please look at them all carefully and if you have any questions just ask.
