This lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, The Iconic Motorcycle Sale at the NEC Classic Motor Show 2025 on Sunday the 9th of November, NEC, Birmingham, B40 1NT. , The AJS Model 31 CSR was a 650 café racer-styled twin-cylinder bike developed by Associated Motor Cycles (AMC) to compete with BSA's Rocket Gold Star and Triumph's Bonneville,The 'CSR' designation stood for ""Competition/Sport/Road,"" though it was also known as the ""Coffee Shop Racer"" ,It was powered by a 646cc, OHV parallel-twin with a stronger nodular iron , 3-bearing crankshaft to address prior vibration issues and, with upgraded camshafts and a distinctive ""siamese"" two-into-one exhaust system, power output was rated at 46bhp @ 6,500rpm,The engine was housed in a full cradle, tubular duplex frame with AMC's ""Teledraulic"" telescopic forks in the front and a swinging arm with twin Girling shock absorbers in the rear,In 1960, the CSR proved its racing credibility when Ron Langston and Don Chapman won the prestigious Thruxton 500 endurance race on CSRs,This 1960 example is in unrestored original condition and has been garage stored for a significant amount of time. The engine turns over with compression but some recommissioning will be required,Supplied with a V5 registration document, dating certificate and some MOT history,A good base for a light restoration project,
