We’re Hiring: Senior Systems Application Officer

Location: Edinburgh

Duration: 12 weeks with possible extension

Rate of Pay: Grade 7 - £20.83

Hours: Monday to Friday – 36 hours per week

Are you ready to play a key role in shaping and improving the digital systems that support essential Council services? We’re looking for a Senior Systems Application Officer to join our team and make a real difference to the way we deliver for our residents and communities.

About the Role

As a Senior Systems Application Officer, you’ll be working at the heart of Operational Services and Digital Services, leading the design, development, and delivery of critical systems. You’ll assess business needs, map and analyse processes, and work with colleagues across the Council to implement solutions that deliver real impact.

A key focus will be supporting and developing the Confirm Asset and Works Order Management system, as well as overseeing projects such as fleet system replacement and a range of current and pipeline initiatives. Acting as the vital link between service teams and technical specialists, you’ll ensure systems are configured, embedded, and optimised to meet the Council’s needs.

What You’ll Do

Work closely with stakeholders to understand business and customer requirements.

Analyse and redesign processes, identifying opportunities for digital improvement.

Lead on the design, configuration, testing and implementation of systems.

Provide technical leadership across operational service projects.

Support key systems including Confirm and other service platforms.

Produce and maintain clear standards, procedures, and documentation.

About You

We’re looking for someone with:

Strong experience in systems and business analysis, turning requirements into effective solutions.

A track record of leading technical projects, from planning through to delivery and training.

Excellent organisational and communication skills, with the ability to build strong working relationships across diverse teams.

Experience of creating and maintaining standards, documentation, and procedures.

Knowledge of asset management and works order systems (such as Confirm) would be an advantage.
