Description

Our client is seeking an experience Management Accountant, to join the business on a 3-6 month contract initially, with possibility of further extension.

Job Summary

Provision of financial management support and business advice to support the High Needs Recovery Plan, whilst ensuring strong links with Departmental Planning and the Corporate Centre.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

* Gaining sufficient understanding of the Department and its operations to ensure that financial advice and information provided supports effective decision making.

* To understand and keep up to date with changes to the way that we operates providing appropriate financial advice, including partnerships and projects.

* Develop a full understanding of the Department’s needs to ensure that financial issues are identified and support the Business Partner, working with other Finance teams, in ensuring that departmental managers have the appropriate advice, knowledge and skills to discharge their financial responsibilities

* Deliver accurate, timely and relevant financial information used by the Service Department, including financial reporting and analysis, financial planning and submissions to government or partner organisations.

* Support the development of management reports and the related systems to improve the links between financials, operational activity, quality and targeted outcomes.

The successful candidate will need to be able to demonstrate and evidence the following:

* Provide some cover on High Needs (Special Education Needs and Disabilities) financial issues.

* Ensuring integrity of financial information

* Accounting procedures gained in a complex financial environment.

* Communicating technical financial information to non-finance specialists in an easily understandable way, both in written form and face to face.

* Experience of using a large footprint ERP (preferably Oracle) and reporting tools

* Involvement with finance or business projects, including an understanding of project management principles.

* Ideally the candidate will have significant experience in Education finance issues.

Knowledge

* Good understanding of all the different areas of finance

* Developments in the services supported

* Use of technology to improve management information and working practices

* Demonstrates understanding and knowledge of Finance best practice, reporting, forecasting and budgeting techniques.

* Best practice and efficiency of financial analysis techniques.

This role has been deemed to be in scope of IR35.
