Description

Hello! My name is Irie, and I recently graduated from Goldsmiths, University of London with a First Class BA (Hons) in Politics. I believe learning should be engaging, accessible and, most importantly, enjoyable. My goal isn't simply to help students achieve better grades, but to help them build confidence and develop a genuine curiosity for learning.

One of my key strengths is my ability to communicate ideas clearly and effectively. I enjoy deepening my own understanding by explaining concepts to others, whether to peers, friends, or younger learners. I find that teaching is one of the most effective ways to consolidate knowledge, and this approach has naturally led me to pursue tutoring as a way of sharing my enthusiasm for learning in a structured and supportive environment.

Having grown up across several countries, including Senegal, Uganda, Ethiopia, South Africa and Kenya, I have met people from many different cultures and educational backgrounds. These experiences taught me that no two students learn in the same way. Every child is different, and I always adapt my teaching style to suit each student's personality, confidence level and way of learning.

Alongside my academic background, I have spent several years working with children. I volunteered as a football coach for girls aged 6–12 in Nairobi, where I planned and led weekly sessions focused on building confidence, teamwork and resilience. I also volunteered at La Pouponnière children's home in Dakar, Senegal, supporting young children's learning and development through play and one-to-one interaction. In addition, I have extensive childcare experience in the US, helping children with homework, reading and day-to-day routines.
