65To activate anti-dazzle on your rear view mirror, either manually adjust the lever at the bottom of the mirror or let automatic systems (like those in BMW 5 Series or Mercedes E-Class) adjust the tint automatically.
For manual anti-dazzle mirrors common in many UK cars (including popular models like Vauxhall Corsa and Ford Focus):
- Locate the small lever at the bottom of your interior mirror
- Flip the lever either forward or backward to change the mirror's angle by approximately 10 degrees
- This adjusted position will reflect headlights from following vehicles as dimmer points of light
For automatic anti-dazzle mirrors (standard on premium models like Range Rover and optional on others):
• The mirror uses light sensors to detect bright lights
• It automatically darkens the glass to reduce glare
• No manual adjustment is needed
Note: While effective, anti-dazzle mirrors aren't a complete solution against high beam headlights. The Highway Code (Rule 114) specifically advises drivers to dip headlights when following other vehicles.
