Reluctantly selling my 1999 Yamaha YZF-R6 5EB.

This is an original first-year R6 in the fantastic red/white/silver colour scheme, with just 17,319 miles.

I bought the bike in April intending to keep and improve it, but after moving house and taking on far more projects than anticipated, I've covered less than 50 miles on it. It simply isn't getting used, so I'd rather it went to someone who will enjoy it.

Since buying it, I've spent around £1,000 recommissioning and maintaining it, including:

• New Michelin tyres front and rear
• New front brake pads
• Front fork seals replaced
• New clutch cable
• Recently MOT'd
• Recently serviced
• Relatively recent chain
• Part service history

Mechanically, the bike is excellent. It starts easily, runs beautifully and rides exactly as it should.

Cosmetically, it's a very presentable 27-year-old R6 rather than a restored show bike. There are age-related marks, scuffs and some wear to the engine cases, wheels and bodywork. I've deliberately photographed these rather than trying to hide them.

From a few feet away, the bike still looks absolutely fantastic and has all the presence of the original 1999 R6.

These early 5EB carburetted R6s are becoming increasingly interesting modern classics, and this one has the benefit of sensible mileage and having already had a considerable amount of recent maintenance.
