Description
Rogaire of London Ladies Formal Top Coat in black. It looks dark blue in some of the photos but is actually black.
Material unknown, probably artificial resembling satin.
Row of five buttons down each side but no button holes so no fastening.
As a man, I have no idea what this style of jacket is called but I assume it was worn on chilly evenings on the way to or from formal events such as cocktail parties, as my parents were in the diplomatic service. Once repaired, I imagine it will be worth quite a lot more than the listing amount.
Lining needs re-stitching at the bottom and there is a frayed area on the lapel which means it probably isn't appropriate for areas of close scrutiny but would be ideal at a distance, as on the stage.
