Rare Lifemax Solar Talking Atomic Watch | Collectible Investment | Scratch-Read
Chatham, Kent
Description
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTE:
The front glass has a small scratch. It does not affect the solar charging or the visibility of the numbers, but the glass may require polishing or replacement if you want a perfect look. The watch is fully functional (voice and atomic sync work perfectly).
The watch, from a private British collection, was linked to RNIB.
Description Supplement: History and Rarity
British Heritage and Expert Design:
This watch is the result of a unique collaboration between the British brand Lifemax and the RNIB (Royal National Institute of Blind People). The high-contrast dial design and fonts were developed with the direct input of the institute's experts, making it a benchmark in its category. The voice announcing the time was recorded by a professional announcer in the UK to ensure the clearest and most natural British pronunciation.
Rare "Solar" Series (Discontinued):
Model 430 (Solar Atomic), in a classic case with a leather strap, is officially discontinued (Discontinued). Unlike more common battery-powered models, this version is considered the pinnacle of the Lifemax line, combining three sophisticated technologies: a solar panel, radio time synchronization, and a voice module.
Why it's an investment:
Finding a working example of this series is becoming increasingly difficult. The number of these watches on the UK secondary market is dwindling every year, making them a coveted item for collectors of assistive technology and rare electronics.
Condition: A small scratch is the only factor separating this watch from the "Mint Condition" category. For someone with restoration skills, this is a chance to restore a rare device whose market value, after polishing, can increase by 1.5-2 times.
