Detached Youth Worker

Salary: £12,090 pa (part-time, 15 hours per week)

Location: Finsbury Park, Islington (Fixed Location)

Working hours: Monday to Friday, 3.30 pm-6.30 pm

We are recruiting for our client, Prospex, who are seeking two dedicated and passionate Detached Youth Workers to join their dynamic team. This exciting opportunity involves delivering high-quality, innovative street-based youth work in Finsbury Park, Islington, focusing on the Andover estate, Six Acres estate, and surrounding areas. This role is funded by the Violence Reduction Unit and is part-time, running from January 2026 to December 2026, with the possibility of a one-year extension.

Overview of the Role:

As a Detached Youth Worker, your primary goal will be to engage with young people in their communities, building trust and providing the support needed for them to overcome challenges and achieve positive outcomes.

Ideal Candidate:

Proven experience working with young people, particularly in urban environmentsYouth Work Level 2 qualification or aboveStrong understanding of the challenges faced by young people living on estatesExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamPassionate about empowering young people and fostering positive relationshipsCommitted to promoting inclusivity and diversity in youth work

Key Responsibilities:

Engage and build relationships with young people in street-based settingsFacilitate activities that encourage personal development and social skillsSupport young people in overcoming barriers to achieve their goalsCollaborate with local agencies and charities to provide comprehensive supportMaintain accurate records of engagement and outcomesParticipate in team meetings and contribute to strategic planningAdvocate for the needs and rights of young people within the community
