Antique Victorian Stradivarius-Labelled German Violin (c. 1880–1890)
Tower Hamlets, London
£500
Description
A characterful late-19th-century trade German violin, labelled internally with a Stradivarius model label—a common and traditional indication of the style the instrument was crafted after, rather than an attempt at deception.
Based on its construction, varnish, and overall appearance, this violin is consistent with German workshop production from the 1880s–90s. Appraised by Stringers London.
Condition:
Fair to good overall condition for its age
Has been stored for some time, so it will need:
New strings
Bow restringing
The original case has sadly been lost
No major structural damage visible from inspection, though a full setup by a luthier is recommended
These violins were commonly produced as well-crafted student and intermediate instruments, inspired by Stradivarius patterns and labelled accordingly.
Ideal For: Players looking for an affordable antique upgrade, collectors of German workshop instruments, or restorers seeking a rewarding project.
£500 cash on collection from Bow E3.
